Fill your Easter baskets with these adorably cute Rice Krispie Treat Bunnies. Kids (and adults too) will fall in love with these bunny-shaped cereal treats with their sugar-coated marshmallow ears and heart-shaped sprinkle noses.

What kid wouldn't love finding these Rice Krispie Treat Bunnies in his or her Easter basket? They couldn't be cuter or easier to make.
As with all our recipes, this one is based on our award-winning Rice Krispie Treat Recipe which has the perfect ratio of butter to marshmallows and crisp rice cereal.
This recipe will make five bunnies, but you can easily double, triple, or even quadruple the recipe if you need more bunny treats for your family.

They'll look so sweet nestled among any of our other Easter Rice Krispie Treats in your Easter baskets or on your Easter dessert table.

To make these bunny rice crispy treats, you'll need:
butter - We always recommend using salted European-style butter like Kerrygold Butter when making Rice Krispie Treats. It has a higher amount of butterfat (flavor) than American butter and will make your treats taste better. To make dairy-free treats, use coconut oil or dairy-free butter.
marshmallows - You'll use 2.5 ounces of marshmallows (1 ⅓ cup mini marshmallows or 10-11 regular marshmallows) to make the Rice Krispie treats and you'll also need 5 regular marshmallows to make the bunny ears. See our Marshmallow Conversion Chart for detailed information about measuring different brands of marshmallows.
crisp rice cereal - We recommend using Kellogg's Rice Krispies Cereal for the best flavor and texture.
pink sugar - You'll need about a tablespoon of pink sugar to coat the marshmallow bunny ears. You won't use the entire tablespoon of sugar, but you'll need that much so you can dip all 10 bunny ears into it.
pink jumbo heart sprinkles - Wilton sells jars of red and pink Jumbo heart sprinkles. They make the cutest bunny noses.
black sugar pearls or mini chocolate chips - I used 4mm black sugar pearls to decorate these bunny treats but mini chocolate chips would look cute too.
chocolate sprinkles - Use chocolate jimmies to make the bunny's whiskers. You could also melt chocolate or black candy melts and pipe on whiskers if you prefer.
white candy melts - You'll need a very small amount (about 2 wafers) of melted white candy melts to attach the sprinkles and marshmallow ears to your bunny treats.
clear piping gel - If you prefer, you can use clear piping gel to attach the nose, eyes, and whiskers to your bunnies. You'll still need the candy melts to attach the marshmallow ears.

step 1 - make a small batch of Rice Krispie Treats
- Rub some butter around the inside of a microwave-safe mixing bowl. This will keep the marshmallows from sticking to the bowl.
- Melt 1 tablespoon of butter and 2.5 ounces of marshmallows at high power in the microwave for 30 seconds.
- Let the bowl rest in the microwave for 1 minute, then remove and stir until melted and smooth.
- Heat for an extra 5-10 seconds only if needed until the marshmallows are melted.
- Let the bowl of melted marshmallows rest for 2 minutes. This will allow the bowl time to cool down so your cereal won’t get soft when you stir it into the marshmallows.
- Now, stir in 1 heaping cup of Rice Krispies Cereal. If you want an exact measure, use 1 cup plus about 1 ½ tablespoons or 1.166 ounces of cereal.
Use the stove instead.
- Grease a mixing bowl with butter or non-stick spray.
- Pour one heaping cup of Rice Krispies Cereal (about 1 cup plus 1 ½ tablespoons) into the bowl and set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon butter and 2 ½ ounces (about 1 ⅓ cups of mini) marshmallows in a medium saucepan set over LOW heat.
- Stir often until about 75% of the marshmallows have melted.
- Remove from the heat and stir until melted and smooth.
- Then, pour the marshmallows over the cereal, and toss to coat.

step 2 - scoop and decorate bunny rice crispy treats.
- Scoop out about 2 tablespoon-size balls of cereal treat mixture. I used a #30 scoop and got 5 Rice Krispie Treat balls out of this recipe.
- You can roll them into balls or leave the back flat (my preference).
- Use melted white candy melts or clear piping gel to attach a jumbo pink heart sprinkle in the center of the Rice Krispie treat ball.
- Then, attach two black sugar pearls or mini chocolate chip eyes.
- Finally, attach three chocolate sprinkles (jimmies) on either side of the heart-shaped nose to create whiskers.
TIPS:
I found that I needed to use tweezers to add the decorations. I had more control while using the tweezers. If you use them, just be sure you use food-use only tweezers.
I also found that using clear piping gel made less mess when attaching the whiskers. I think the chocolate jimmies made great whiskers but piping on chocolate whiskers would have been less time-consuming.

step 3 - make marshmallow bunny ears
- Pinch a marshmallow into a teardrop shape. Hold the marshmallow for about 30-60 seconds until it holds its shape.
- Cut the marshmallow in half creating two bunny ears.
- Dip the sticky side of the cut marshmallow into pink sugar.
- Remove the marshmallow and brush off any sugar that sticks to the outer edge of each marshmallow ear.
- Repeat, creating a total of 10 pink marshmallow bunny ears.

step 4 - add marshmallow ears to the bunny crispy treats
- Cut a notch in the top of each bunny treat so that it's large enough to fit the points of two marshmallow ears inside it.
- Brush a thick layer of melted white candy melts into the notch, then insert two bunny ears (pointed end in the notch).
- Set the bunny onto a silicone mat (or wax or parchment paper) and let the candy melts harden.
- Then, turn the treat over and brush some melted candy melts over the bottom edge of the ears. This will help hold the marshmallows in place.
- Once the candy melts harden, you can flip the bunny over and they are ready to serve or package.
TIPS:
I assembled my crispy treat bunnies on a silicone mat and they did not stick. You could also use wax paper or parchment paper.

I love how each bunny treat looks slightly different.
Alternative decorating ideas:
You could make your decorations using modeling chocolate or fondant. Pink Sixlets would make cute noses and you could use royal icing candy eyes for a different look.
Or, you could simply pipe on a pink candy melts nose and black candy melts whiskers and eyes.
