Rice Krispie Treat sheet
Need to feed a crowd? Want a lot of your favorite treat? We took our award-winning Rice Krispie Treat recipe and adapted the amounts to fit a baking tray.
This big batch is great for parties or to use for specialized treats.
Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes to decorate. Or simply cut out squares, wrap in cellophane bags with ribbon, and sell at your next bake sale.
how to make a big batch of Rice Krispie Treats
Because you're working with a larger amount of ingredients, it's best to make these treats on the stove-top, rather than the microwave.
TIPS:
- Use a large saucepan or stock pot to melt the marshmallows and butter.
- Instead of a large bowl, I mixed the Rice Krispie treats and marshmallow mixture in my roasting pan!
ingredients you'll need
BUTTER
We suggest salted, European-style butter for best flavor.
MARSHMALLOWS
My preferred brand of marshmallows is Jet Puffed. I use the regular size, but you may also use the mini.
Different brands have different densities and weights, so be sure to check out our marshmallow conversion guide.
RICE KRISPIES
You'll need a lot of Rice Krispies cereal, so be sure to buy the family size!
You may also use Cocoa Krispies if you prefer.
equipment you'll need

let's make Rice Krispie Treats!
step one: get set up
Line the baking tray with non-stick foil.
Place 10 cups of Rice Krispies cereal in a large bowl or roasting pan that has been coated with non-stick spray.
step two: melt the marshmallows and butter
Cut up 8 tablespoons (1 stick) of salted butter and begin to melt in the large saucepan set over medium-low heat.
Add 20 ounces (about 80 regular OR 12 cups mini) marshmallows.
Stir frequently until most of the marshmallows have melted.
Remove from heat and stir until the mixture is very smooth and the marshmallows are fully melted.
step three: mix it all together
With spatulas that have been sprayed with cooking spray, pour the marshmallow mixture over the cereal and stir very well.
When the mixture is combined, transfer to the baking tray.
Flatten evenly to fill the entire baking tray.
Let set very well, at least an hour.
Cut into squares or cut out shapes with cookie cutters.
MAKES ABOUT 35 TREATS!
How do I color Rice Krispie Treats?
If you're making decorated Rice Krispie Treats and want to add color, it's easy!
I added coloring to make shamrock cereal treats or emoji treats.
To color your treats, stir gel paste food coloring into your smooth, melted marshmallow and butter mixture, BEFORE adding to the cereal.

Thanks for sharing this recipe. I've used the store-bought rice krispie sheets but these homemade treats were so much better!
