10ouncesmarshmallows(6 cups mini OR about 40 regular)
4tablespoons salted butter
4 ⅔ cupsRice Krispies
chocolate chips
Instructions
Line a 9-inch cake pan with non-stick foil or lightly-greased regular foil.
First, make your green cereal treats. Place 3 ounces of the marshmallows (about 2 cups mini or 13 regular size) and 1 ⅓ tablespoons of the butter in a microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave at 70 percent power for 90 seconds. Let sit in the microwave heat for a couple minutes.
Meanwhile, add 1 ⅔ cups of the cereal to a large, greased bowl.
Stir the marshmallow mixture very well until smooth. Add a few drops of green food coloring and stir well.
Pour the marshmallow mixture over the cereal and combine.
Transfer the green treats to the baking pan, spreading them around the edge. Wet your hands (to avoid sticking) and use your hands to shape a green ring.
Next, make the pink center. Place 7 ounces of marshmallows (4 cups of mini OR about 27 regular) in a microwave-safe bowl with 2 ⅔ tablespoons butter.
Place 3 cups of Rice Krispies in a large, greased bowl.
Follow the instructions above, using pink food coloring.
Scoop the pink treats in the center off the ring, pressing firmly down to fill the circle. You may have a little bit of pink cereal treats remaining.
Insert upside-down chocolate chips for "seeds."
Let rest 2 hours until set, or chill in the refrigerator.
