Red, Green, and Black food coloring (Americolor Soft Gel Paste recommended)
Jumbo and regular-sized candy eyes
Red edible writer, Americolor recommended (optional)
Ingredients
7cupsRice Krispie cereal
6tablespoonssalted, European butter
16 ouncesmarshmallows
2cupsconfectioner's sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4tablespoonsmilk
pinchsalt
Instructions
Grease your baking pan, bowls and spatulas with cooking spray.
Place Rice Krispies cereal in a large, greased bowl.
Begin to melt European salted butter (cut in pieces) in a medium-large saucepan set over low heat. Stir in marshmallows.
Continue to melt over low heat, stirring often, until about 75% of the marshmallows have melted. Remove from heat and stir well, using the residual heat to full melt the marshmallows. The mixture should be very smooth.
Alternatively, you can melt the butter and marshmallows in the microwave for 1 minute, and stir well to fully melt the marshmallows.
Pour the marshmallows over the cereal and toss to coat evenly.
Spread the treats into the greased baking pan and gently press into an even layer. Let the crispy treats cool at least an hour.
Cut the treats into 2 ½-inch by 1 ½-inch rectangles. (You should have about 18 to 20.)
Place confectioner's sugar, vanilla extract, milk, and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Whisk very well.
You may need to add additional confectioner's sugar to thicken to desired consistency or a bit more milk to thin.
Divide your icing and tint with green, black, and brown food coloring. You'll need more green than the other colors.
Scrape the red and black into disposable decorating bags and close tightly with a rubber band. Snip the tips.
With the red edible marker (if using), draw some blood on the Jumbo candy eyes.
Ice each treat with green icing. TIP: An off-set spatula is great for this. Top with the candy eyes. Pipe a mouth and blood with the black and red icing.
