Mickey Mouse-shaped chocolate Rice Krispie Treats are made by adding cocoa powder and chocolate chips to our best Rice Krispie treat recipe and by cutting the treats using a cookie cutter.
Begin melting the butter in a medium-large saucepan set over low heat.
Stir in the chocolate chips and cocoa powder and allow to melt slightly.
Stir in the marshmallows.
Continue stirring occasionally until most of the marshmallows have melted.
Remove from heat and continue to stir until completely melted.
Pour the cereal into a well-buttered (greased) mixing bowl.
Pour the marshmallows over top and fold them into the cereal.
Allow the cereal to cool until you can easily handle it.
Butter your hands and the inside of a Mickey Mouse cookie cutter.
Gently press some of the cereal mixture into the cookie cutter, filling it completely.
Press on the cereal mixture, allowing the Mickey Mouse-shaped treat to fall out of the cutter.
Set on a silicone mat or wax paper until cooled.
Repeat creating as many Mickey Mouse Rice Krispie Treats as you can.
Notes
Storage
Store these treats in an airtight container for up to 7 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
Tips
We suggest using Kraft Jet-Puffed Marshmallows in this recipe. If you use a store-brand marshmallow, it may be denser and stickier. You might want to adjust the recipe by reducing the marshmallows by 1 cup or increasing the cereal by 1 cup. Be sure to grease your cookie cutter with butter. Your treats will pop out easily.
