Instructions
Cereal Treats
Grease an extra-large mixing bowl and an 8-inch or 9-inch square baking pan with butter.
Pour the Chex Cereal into the bowl and set asize.
Cut the butter into slices and place them in a medium-large (3 or 4-quart) non-stick saucepan.
Add ⅓ cup of creamy peanut butter and set over low heat.
Stir often until melted.
Add the marshmallows and toss to coat.
Allow the marshmallows to begin melting.
Stir occasionally, until about 75% of the marshmallows have melted. This should take about 6-8 minutes.
Then, remove the pan from the heat and stir until the marshmallows are completely melted and are smooth and creamy.
Pour the melted peanut butter marshmallow mixture over the cereal.
Stir until well blended.
Gently spread the cereal treat mixture into the greased pan.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Drizzle
Combine the chocolate chips with 1 tablespoon of creamy peanut butter in a small saucepan.
Set the pan over low heat and stirring frequently, allow the chocolate to begin to melt.
Once about 75% of the chocolate has melted, remove the pan from the heat and stir until completely melted. This will take only a minute or two.
Spoon the chocolate into a small zip-top bag and snip off one tip.
Drizzle the chocolate over the top of the Chex Bars.
Allow the chocolate-topped treats to cool at room temperature for at least 2 hours until the chocolate firms up.
Cut the cereal treats into square bars and serve.

Storage
Store these Chex Bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Or, place them in a zip-top bag and freeze them for up to 3 months.
Tips
Do not get your marshmallows too hot as overheated marshmallows will make hard treats.
Use fresh marshmallows for the best texture.
Use salted European-style butter for the best flavor.
Do not press down your cereal treat mixture too firmly or you may crush the cereal.
Pour the hot peanut butter marshmallow mixture over the cereal in a well-greased mixing bowl for the best results.
