can I add fresh berries to desserts?
Yes! You can. However, it's important to note the shelf life is shorter when you add fresh fruit to a dessert. Refrigerate and serve within 3 days. Blueberry cereal treats are delicious, so this shouldn't be a problem.
If you'd like your treats to last longer, you may substitute 2 ounces of crushed, freeze-dried blueberries instead, just as we did with this delicious strawberry Rice Krispie treat recipe.

Notes
Vicky says
Can’t wait to make this. Though to make it taste like my gramma’s blueberry cake, I will add a 1/2 tsp of nutmeg & a tsp of lemon extract or juice & 1/2 tsp vanilla extract. I might top with a lemon drizzle, though gramma never added the icing, only a sprinkle of sugar. I will let you know how I turns out.
